Bombs go off and the first question people seem to have in the aftermath is “did Muslims do it?” What the fuck is wrong with people? Why does the religion that some asshole subscribes to have anything to do with it? People from all religions kill people and do all kinds of heinous things. It isn’t like there is a “Muslim” gene that people have that causes them to kill Americans. It couldn’t possibly be our military policies in the regions these people come from could it?

I recently overheard a conversation between two younger (30s) conservative women in a very public place (Target) that pretty much sums up everything that is wrong with the right in one simple sentenance.
Girl 1: Did you see what (some random other girl) posted on Facebook?
Girl 2: What?
G1: That picture of gay people getting married.
G2: No, I didn’t see that.
G1: I have different values and beliefs than that. I don’t think we can even discuss that stuff now.
G1: I don’t think I can even talk to her again.
I wanted to go over and ask why she couldn’t have a conversation with her friend just because they had different opinions on something, but it wouldn’t have made a difference. She had already decided to drop this person from her life because of it.
I guess she doesn’t like to lose debates, since she really has no leg to stand on in this argument. Maybe the GOP wants to encourage “diversity” now, but I don’t think the base does. That disconnect may leave them standing on the sidelines completely confused.

My state ranks in the top 10 of something! Oh wait, it isn’t a good list. Crap.
I think it is cute that the RNC thinks that the reason the Democrats have won the popular vote in four of the last five presidential elections is because they don’t know how to re-tweet, re-blog or poke someone on Facebook. It couldn’t be because people don’t agree with where they want to take the country, no that isn’t possible.
And does Bush vs Kerry really count as a win or loss for anyone?
Why are people with little dogs so shocked when their little dogs don’t go where they want them to, even when leashed? I know this is a shock to you, but when you allow your leash to be 20’ long and the dog is in front of you, they will go where ever they desire.

Somehow this man “represents” me.
Is this the reason Maker’s Mark is diluting their bourbon?
Maybe they should make a Rye instead. I’d try it.
First let me say that I am sick of hearing about debt ceilings, fiscal cliffs and deficits (especially when most people think that the total debt and the annual budget deficit are the same thing). Lets say that we suddenly have all of the members of Congress and the POTUS decide that they actually give a shit about fixing things and not getting themselves or their party re-elected. We find a way to balance the budget, which doesn’t do us any real good in the grand scheme of things since we would need to run a hefty surplus to have the ability to pay back the debt that has accrued over time.
Everyone is terrified that China is going to call in its debt and suddenly we are going to be speaking Mandarin. All I can say to that is stop watching Fox News. China holds less than 10% of the US debt and that debt is in T. Bonds which wouldn’t all expire at once. Even if they did, does anyone really think that China is willing to give up the interest payments on those notes? I mean really, as long as the US services its debt China is more than happy to extend our term.
What happens if we pay off all of the US debt? Are we really in a better place because of that?

I am reading a book (first one since high school I think) called “Locavesting” and it is pretty good so far. Of course, I am only 20 pages in.
